| Deutschland feiert den Tag der
Deutschen Einheit 2008 in Hamburg – und damit in dem Bundesland, das in
besonderem Maße von der deutschen Wiedervereinigung und der Beendigung des
Kalten Krieges profitiert. Hamburg nutzt die Chancen der internationalen
Arbeitsteilung, die zu einem Anwachsen der Warenströme führt. Dabei profiliert
sich Hamburg als Logistik- und Handels-Drehscheibe zwischen den Wachstumsmärkten
Asiens und Osteuropas. Der Hamburger Senat hat auf die Anforderungen der Globalisierung mit dem Leitbild „Metropole Hamburg – Wachsende Stadt“ reagiert. Die Ziele dieser Strategie sind: ein überdurchschnittliches Wirtschafts- und Beschäftigungswachstum zu erzielen, die Einwohnerzahl zu erhöhen, die internationale Attraktivität zu steigern und die Lebensqualität der Stadt zu sichern. Viele politische Weichenstellungen der letzten Jahre führen jetzt zu sichtbaren Verbesserungen. Der Aufbruch ist überall spürbar: in der HafenCity, dem größten innerstädtischen Stadtentwicklungsprojekt Europas, im Hafen, der immer neue Umschlagrekorde meldet, in der IT- und Medienbranche und in den klassischen Industriesektoren. Immer mehr junge Menschen aus anderen Regionen ziehen nach Hamburg, der Städtetourismus blüht, und vermehrt verlegen Unternehmen ihren Sitz in die Stadt. Die Folge ist ein überdurchschnittliches Wirtschaftswachstum, und auch der Zuwachs an sozialversicherungspflichtigen Arbeitsplätzen fällt deutlich aus. Nun gilt es, diesen erfolgreichen Weg weiterzugehen. Wir werden unsere Kompetenz-Cluster (Luftfahrt, Hafen und Logistik, IT- und Medien, Life Sciences) weiter gezielt fördern ebenso wie die mittelständischen Unternehmen. Und der Masterplan Industrie setzt beste Rahmenbedingungen für industrielles Wachstum. In Hamburg lässt es sich hervorragend arbeiten und leben. Die grüne Metropole am Wasser lockt mit Sport-, Kultur- und Unterhaltungsangeboten von internationalem Rang. Das Internationale Maritime Museum, das in diesem Jahr eröffnet, und die Elbphilharmonie, die derzeit gebaut wird, sind nur zwei von vielen Beispielen für den Aufbruch, den man in Hamburg sehen und erleben kann. |
In 2008, the official celebrations
for the “Day of German Unity” took place in Hamburg – the federal state that had
profited most from the reunion and the end of the cold war. Hamburg has
exploited the opportunites of international division of labour which has led to
an increase in the flow of commodities, and is now the logistic and commercial
pivotal point between the expanding markets of Asia and East Europe. The Hamburg senate reacted to the challenges of globalisation with the mission statement: “The Metropolis Hamburg – an expanding city” This strategy was devised to attain an above-average economic growth and increase in employment, to raise the population of the city, to make the city more attractive internationally and to secure the quality of life there. Many political decisions taken in the last five years have led to obvious improvements. A spirit of reform can be felt everywhere: in the Harbour City, the largest inner-city development project in Europe, in the harbour itself, where new turnover records are continually registered, in the IT and media branches and in the traditional industrial sectors. More and more young people from different areas are moving to Hamburg, the tourist industry is thriving and more and more companies are moving their headquarters into the city. The results are above-average economic growth and a clear increase in employment with social insurance contributions. What is now important, is to carry on along this path of success. We will continue to promote competence clusters ( Aviation, Harbour and Logistics, IT and Media, Life Sciences ) as well as further support medium- sized companies. Our master plan for industry will provide the best general framework for industrial growth. If you live and work in Hamburg, you will find the combination excellent. The green metropolis on the banks of the Elbe river offers sporting, cultural and entertainment events of international standard. The International Maritime Museum, to be opened this year and the Elbe Philarmony, still in the process of construction, are just two examples of the new start which can be seen and experienced in Hamburg. |
